How To Spark Your Zeal by Honoring the Balance of Light and Dark
“I honor the balance of light and dark within me. With gratitude, I gather my blessings, and with grace, I release what no longer serves.”
There are certain times of the year when it feels like the world is inviting us to take a moment to slow down and really pay attention.
The air shifts, the light softens, and if we pause long enough, we can almost hear nature speaking. The leaves begin their quiet change, evenings carry a gentle coolness, and the sky glows with golden and crimson hues.
These aren’t just seasonal changes—they’re gentle reminders for us to notice the beauty and magic in the simple things. And, one of the most powerful of these reminders is here now.
September 22nd marks Mabon, the Autumn Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere—a rare and perfect balance when day and night meet as equals, and the Earth herself reminds us of the eternal rhythm of harmony. For one brief moment, light and shadow hold each other tenderly, reminding us that balance is not about perfection, but about presence.
Mabon is known as the second harvest festival, following Lughnasadh. In ancient times, it was when communities gathered their crops, celebrated abundance, and prepared for the darker half of the year. And on this day, we too are invited into this rhythm: to reflect, to give thanks, to gather within us what is ready to nourish our next season, and to release what no longer needs to be carried.
Because true abundance isn’t only about what we hold onto—it’s also about what we gracefully let go of. Just as the trees surrender their leaves in a blaze of beauty, we’re reminded that letting go creates space for new manifestations to take root.
And this season invites us not just to think about this balance, but to practice it. Rituals are how we embody wisdom—they turn intention into action and help us anchor the unseen into the tangible.
On this sacred day, I invite you to try a simple practice to honor both your harvest and your release.
✨ A Simple Ritual for Mabon ✨
This evening, as the sun sets, prepare a small bowl of water and place it before you. Hold two natural objects in your hands—a stone, a seed, or even two leaves.
With the first object, speak your gratitude. Name the blessings, achievements, and moments of joy you're carrying from this season. Place it beside the bowl as a sacred reminder of your harvest.
With the second object, whisper what you're ready to release—old fears, doubts, or burdens that feel heavy. Place it gently in the water, letting the element carry it back to the Earth.
When you finish, close your eyes. Imagine golden light rising within you, filling the space you’ve just created. Feel this balance anchoring in your body, your spirit, your leadership.
Then, in the morning, return the water and the object to the Earth, knowing it has been transformed.
This season is not asking you to do more or push harder. It is asking you to stand in the quiet magnificence of balance—to honor both the light and the dark within you, and to trust that abundance flows when you live in rhythm with the cycles of nature.
Let this Equinox be your reminder: manifestations grow most powerfully in the soil of gratitude, clarity, and release. Step into this next season with grace, knowing that you are supported, guided, and infinitely abundant.

Give me five journal prompts to help me reflect on my harvest from this season—what blessings I’ve gathered, and what I’m ready to release—so I can step into balance, gratitude, and abundance this Equinox.
WHY THIS IS POTENT
Journaling with the energy of Mabon is powerful because it transforms the wisdom of the season into something deeply personal. When we pause to name our blessings, we anchor ourselves in gratitude. When we choose what to release, we create space for new manifestations to take root. This simple act of reflection turns the Equinox from just another date on the calendar into a sacred moment of balance, clarity, and abundance.
